New Players

If you are a new player interested in joining the league, you will need to attend a Ratings Night. The next Ratings night will be Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Haber Community Centre Gym #5 from 8-9pm. Contact Tara at bwbleague72@gmail.com  if you have any other questions. 

Why do we require you to attend a ratings night?  Our league creates teams with equal talent across all teams, so that all teams have a fair shot at winning the championship.  We assess your skill level so we can make fair teams.

For the past 43 years the Burlington Women’s Basketball League (B.W.B.L.) has provided women from the Burlington area an opportunity to play in a semi-competitive basketball league. The league follows a full season schedule from October to April, playing on Wednesday nights at 7:15pm or 8:30pm. Regular Wednesday evening games are located at MM Robinson High School or Corpus Christi High School. The playing season concludes with a play-off tournament, which takes place on a Saturday.

B.W.B.L. has 8 teams, each sponsored by local businesses to offset gym and referee costs. The registration fee for all players is $275 which includes a team t-shirt, a 21 game season, and the playoff tournament. Teams consist of returning and newly registered players, put together by our Team Coordinator. Returning players are given priority to register for the next season. Any new players will receive a position on a team once returning players have been placed. There is a waiting list available when spaces are filled.

New players to our league are required to attend a rating night offered each September. The purpose of the rating night is to assess playing ability so we may equally distribute height and ability levels amongst our teams. Only one rating night is ever necessary, and is not to be confused with a try out! We have all ages (over 23) and abilities!
